Sunningdale facility

Solar-powered storage. Built with sustainability from the ground up.

The Sunningdale storage facility was not retrofitted to be more sustainable. Sustainability was an architectural decision from the outset, starting with the solar installation that powers the entire operation.

For brand owners importing finished goods from the Far East, Sunningdale provides a managed, environmentally responsible holding facility between production and market. With a bespoke WMS and capacity for 2,500 pallets growing to 3,500, it reduces the carbon footprint of the import-to-shelf journey.

Solar-powered operation
100% renewable energy powering the Sunningdale facility, no grid dependency for day-to-day operations.
Bespoke WMS
Full visibility into stock levels, movements and dwell times, reducing waste from unnecessary handling.
Dual-purpose storage
Stores both finished goods and incoming components, reducing total logistics movements in the supply chain.
Sustainable materials

Four material ranges. The right choice for your product and your commitments.

Different products, categories and regulatory environments need different approaches. Our job is to translate your sustainability brief into the right material specification.

Recyclable mono-structures
Single-material flexible packaging that can enter mainstream recycling streams. Eliminates the lamination layers that prevent conventional flexibles from being recycled. Compatible with OPRL on-pack labelling.
OPRL compatible
Compostable packaging
Certified compostable films and structures for brands targeting the premium organic and health-food market. Backed by Soil Association certification. Suitable for industrial and home-compost environments depending on specification.
Soil Association certified
Paper barrier packaging
Paper-based flexible packaging with integrated barrier properties providing moisture, grease and oxygen resistance without conventional plastic lamination. Increasingly specified by retailers with sustainability targets.
Kerbside recyclable
Biodegradable films
Biodegradable flexible films that break down under defined environmental conditions. Available in a range of thicknesses and barrier grades to match product protection requirements without compromising shelf-life.
End-of-life recovery
Certifications and accreditations

Independently verified. Every one of them.

Every certification UFP holds was earned through audit, inspection and documented process. They are the external verification that our quality and sustainability claims stand up to scrutiny.

BRCGS

We hold the BRCGS global standard for food safety. BRCGS is a quality certification program, used by over 22,000 suppliers to the food industry across 123 countries. The organisation's primary aim is to offer protection for the end consumer by standardising quality, safety and operational activities to ensure food manufacturers and their suppliers fulfil their legal obligations.

Soil Association

Soil Association standards are recognised to exceed statutory organic standards, such as those set by the European Union and the UK government. Certification enables UFP to supply packaging for certified organic products, covering materials sourcing, handling procedures and production line management.

FDA (Food & Drug Administration)

Recognized accreditation bodies (FDA accreditation holder) will have the authority to accredit third-party certification bodies, otherwise known as third-party auditors. In turn, the certification bodies conduct consultative and regulatory food safety audits and issue certifications to eligible entities that produce food for humans and animals.

Kosher

Kosher is a Hebrew word that means fit, proper or correct. Nowadays it is mostly used to describe food and drink that complies with Jewish religious dietary law. Dual certification enables UFP to supply packaging for religiously certified food products without compromising compliance.

Halal

The word 'halal' literally means permissible and in translation it is usually used as lawful. The Halal food Authority rules for halal are based on Islamic Shari'ah. Certification covers materials sourcing, handling procedures and production line management, critical for brands targeting observant consumer segments.

SEDEX

SEDEX membership demonstrates UFP's commitment to ethical and responsible business practices across the supply chain, covering labour rights, health and safety, environment and business ethics. A standard requirement for major food and retail supply chains.

Campden BRI

Universal Flexible Packaging Ltd. is a member of Campden BRI which provides the food and drink industry with the practical scientific, technical and advisory services needed to ensure product safety and quality, process efficiency and product and process innovation. This includes a wide range of analysis and testing services and operational support underpinned by a vigorous programme of research and innovation.

BCMPA

Universal Flexible Packaging Ltd. has been a member of the BCMPA, the voice of the contract packing and contract manufacturing industry, since 2000. The association plays a major role in promoting outsourcing and is relied on by brand owners around the world who are looking for professional outsourcing partners.

OPRL (On-pack recycling label)

OPRL, run by OPRL Ltd, is a scheme that gives members the ability to encourage their brands to recycle the packaging their customers pick off store shelves. With the aim to be both consistent and simplistic, the OPRL label on packaging provides a simple, obvious and reliable indicator as to what to do with the packaging once the product has been used, removing the confusion between different recycling options.
